Back to Discography

'Sketches from a Past Life' is my 4th album, and my first album recorded outside of my house (that's right, I left the house for this). All of these songs are the culmination of years of work and writing, and I am incredibly excited to be able to share it!
This album began in October 2024 with the recording of 'Moonlight Driver' at Sac Prep Studios in Sacramento, CA. This song was originally intended as a single in December 2024, but due to drum delays, it wasn't able to be finished until June/July of 2025. At that point, it became an idea to record a full album in the studio to accompany this track and what followed was this album, and because production of 'In Full Technicolor' was nearly complete for 2025, the album was moved to be released in 2026.
Proper sessions for the album began in Summer 2025 with the recording of 'Lavender' and 'And The Air Is Cold'. And sessions began to more frequently happen after the release of Technicolor in October 2025. Each session running 8 - 10 hours a day.
Many of these songs were written from August 2025 - April 2026 in practice rooms at college. And they were usually each produced a couple days after writing them, meaning the songs were fresh at the time of their recording.
Most basic recording days covered everything except drums and lead guitar which were overdubbed at a later date, at which point we were also thinking about more instruments to pack in, like the harmonium on 'Most Days', the Hammond + Leslie on 'Rain', the bowed electric guitar on 'Friends' or the piano strings on 'Heart Bleeding Out'. All things that are first time features on my music.
Unlike past albums, I also enlisted the help of friends from The Beatles Guitar Project to help fill out the sound of the record. Which helps me focus more on getting my parts as good as they could be, still I did plenty instruments. This isn't the typical one-man band album that I usually make, it's intended to be more, and I tremendously thank everyone who helped make this album possible.
'Sketches of a Past Life' is possibly my most introspective work to date. Each song highlights a different part of me.
The album art was finalized in April 2026 and is an artwork by my grandpa, Barry Cameron drawn likely around 1971. All other album artwork was also drawn by him, including the art for the singles, all the CD/Vinyl/Cassette art, etc.

Inspirations include, as always, The Beatles and The Beach Boys (whose inspirations are most audible on 'Melt Away' and 'Moonlight Driver'), also bands and artists like Pink Floyd, The Left Banke, Emitt Rhodes, etc. I took inspiration from their lyrics and instruments.
